Actually, Michael wore masks and put on lots of makeup so he wouldn't be recognized in public. He couldn't go out anywhere without drawing crowds. So, to go unrecognized, he would wear a mask and have makeup put on to make him look like someone else. I saw it in interview videos on YouTube. His 1st wife said that and it showed pictures.

The mask is makin fun of Michael Jackson, there was a period in time where he walked around wearing a surgical mask all the time like that becuase he was afraid of germs or something...
