im not a fan, i liked her original version of this and the christmas ditty she did, not much else besides.i think technically she has great vocal ability but generally i don't like to lisen to her sing because its nearly always over the top. i mentioned tom waits because he's a perfect example of someone who hasn't got that big perfect voice but who sings with genuine passion and emotion. he is one of my favourite singers in spite of his gnarled vocal's.

Make up your mind. You say you're a fan of hers, then you finish your sentence with "i'd have tom waits over mariah and he's got a voice like a busted engine", so no you dont like her, because she never sings simply, her songs are never simple. I honestly dont think this is a bad performance. Im not just saying that, I would have no problem admiting it.
