The classic physics experiment involving sound, a tube of propane and fire. Created for Flash Forward 2006, but useful in any case where you are not allowed to have fire. I push through the tube 449 Hz then higher frequencies, then some jazz and then some rock. This is real life sound visualization.

It's a unique sort of gas range, and most gas ranges and ovens are inside closed kitchens.

Probably shouldn't do that with the garage closed....bad idea

The speaker is not confined, the sound is influencing both inside and outside the tube, this is apparent as we hear the sound. So based on the delicate balance of sound, gas and air pressure there are two possible modes of operation. The high point of the flame, flame maxima can either be at the node, or the anti-node. Knowing which mode is not trivial, and as I did not measure any of the pressures I mistakenly only described one possible mode not knowing which it mode it actually is.

Somebody should put this on their piano to burn while they play. That would be spectacular.

"...The lower pressure here allows more gas to escape into the atmosphere..." Not true. The lower pressure is INSIDE the tube, which means that less gas escapes there. wiki- "the standing wave will create higher and lower pressure points along the tube. Where there is higher pressure due to the sound waves, more gas will escape from the perforations in the tube, and the flames will be higher at those points." .... it's a bit confusing. I'd have thought the high pressure was in low-flame places.
