I've got some bad news for you. China has been implementing Freidman's "free" market policies ever since Tiannenman Square. Poverty is worse now than under the Communists. There was no unemployment under the Communists. Now its soaring. China has gone capitalist without Democracy. Which goes to show that "freedom" and "free" markets are not the same.

Japan and South Korea have plenty of government intervention in their economies. South Koreans have a lower standard of living than you think. China is now privatizing according to Freidman's ideas and the people are poorer - there was no unemployment under Communist policies. Unemployment has been soaring since Tiannenman Square (which was about wanting Democracy NOT capitalism).
Are you referring to Russia under the Soviets or Russia now, after its own experiments with Freidman's policies?

You don't really understand Klein's main point. This vid doesn't really summarize it either. Her basic thesis is that Chicago School economics have been implemented whenever a "shock" or "crisis" permitted its proponents to impose such policies. She points out, in great detail and with volumes of footnotes, that Freidman's policies have been nothing short of disastrous. No theorizing needed, there is now a track record of failure showing the weaknesses of the Chicago School model.

Of course we have done things for ourselves. We fish, we eat, we sleep, we do. What, you want government to take of you intead of you taking care of yourself? Your lack of faith disturbs me...

You have never done everything for yourself. The reason you can even go to school and have a good job is because people who came before you fought for it. It's either the government by and for the people or Corporations that are your mommy and daddy. Don't fool yourself. Who is paying for your school? lol

Doesn't matter, they owe us big time for betraying us and having trading surpluses in foreign affairs. Ever since the old republic of China fell, they have not been very good friends with us.

We all do everything ourselves, right down to the food we eat. As said in China, one must have patience to fulfill their needs. The Chinese say that 'cause they know that government enforces law, it does not act like our mommy and daddy.

China's GDP (nominal) 2007 estimate
- Total $3,280 trillion
- Per capita $2,483
Per capita means "per person" in Latin. This means that on average, each Chinese person makes $2,483 A YEAR! Now, if YOU don't think that is poor, then you are big fool!
