One could use pages and pages of evidence to prove both viewpoints. I am surprised that a huge switchfoot fan does not know they profess to be christians but do not want to alienate fans or be put in a box. The genre of music does not define who they are and what they stand for. Also, please do not use partial quotes when trying to make a point.

Amazing song!Switchfoot 4EVER:)

Switchfoot is trying to reach people who might other wise be turned off by the label "Christian Band". It does not dilute the message within the song. Kina like what Third Day did when they changed some of their lyrics for the Jay Leno set.

When quoting someone you might want to include the whole quote..."As a Christian, I have a lot to say within the walls of the church. But also, as a Christian, I've got a lot to say just about life in general" - Jon Foreman

A "Christian Band" is a band that has and expresses Christian ideals
Switchfoot, by definition, is a Christian band
HOWEVER
they arent some protestant fruity worship group, they are a real band that sings and plays for the sake of singing and playing

"Calling us 'Christian rock' tends to be a box that closes some people out and excludes them. And that's not what we're trying to do. Music has always opened my mind—and that's what we want" - Jon Foreman.
think twice before calling someone an idiot... u just might be one urself. |
