Gary Moore's live version of this song doesn't sound anything like this. If I didn't know better I'd say it's a totally different song. He doesn't do any of the neat tricks Roy does.

I have been listen to numerous recordings and performances of this song by Roy, and I must say there are version where the backing band and the arrangement is far better without making the solo any less of what it is. The original studio recording isn't all that fun. The great thing about this song is that it is totally different every time he performs it, and still manage to maintain all the same themes and phrases.

Gary can be great but he really ripped off Buchanan.
"Parisienne Walkways" is SO much like this.

Yes, Jeff payed tribute to Roy at certain times. Once on 'Blow By Blow 'and then just after Roy died with "Where were you?" which was a question posed at Roy during the time of his death.
Nobody knows for certain if he was killed when being picked up by cops or beaten i jail.
The verdict was suicide mainly because Roy had 'attempted' it before..but his head was beaten in.

The answer is Jeff Beck. As I type this I am holding the vinyl version of A Street Called Straight. Guess the name of Side 2, track 1?
