His movies are not erotic cinema - they simply use certain techniques of erotic cinema as part of the universe of the surreal setting he creates. "Caligula" and "Salon Kitty" are much like Russ Meyer films; sex is used liberally simply to demonstrate the human everyday obsession with sex... it's not the focal point necessarily.

Sex scenes, nudity, violence... many people get offended with those. Hipocriticals! All of what is showed in Tinto's movies lays in our ordinary days or, at least, in our imagination. He's one of the brightest moviemakers ever, he gave to the erotic cinema glamour, charm... and also roughness to the reality, as it has indeed. Great movie.
