After workin on this show for five years I can tell you it was one of the greates experiences ever in film ! We where all very close like a family,and it had some terrific elements in the writing. it is not a show that you can jump into you have to start from the beginning.The dramas where at least based on characters that all had flaws and where totally awesome to watch as each Actor was given a script, it was a terrific show so,and a pleasure to work on sincerely, Coli Meacham On Set Dreeser

The show's "sappy drama" as you call it is actually how real people of varied beliefs and personalities might ostensibly act under the depressing situations in which they're placed. It might take getting used to, but Battlestar is the perfect example of how characters on TV should be written and developed.

@dmix09 It has a very strong story arc, so if after seeing the pilot mini and the first regular episodes, "33" and "Water" you'll know if you're into it.

ok, i'm a "Stargate" kind of guy. i've been under the impression that BsG is a bit overrated, doesn't really bring anything special to the table, and that the show is totally based on sappy drama-bs, and thus very annoying. this was my conclusion after watching 15 minutes of it one day.. however.. can someone convince me otherwise? its possible i haven't given it much of a chance. does anyone recommend this show? or not? and why? thanks lol

If you look up the original series on Wiki, you'd see that it had the highest premier ratings of any show & eventhough ratings declined as time went by. You'll also read on the Nielson Rating page confirms that even when canceled, it was STILL winning its time-slot to the end. The Lucas & Universal counter-suits were dropped. Many criticised the cancelation of a series STILL winning its time-slot. This new series has never matched those ratings even on a cable channel dedicated to Sci-fi.
