1 Dec 08 Update Thanks for watching my video. I never thought it would reach more than a million views. I don't interact too much because of my poor English. But there are a few things I need to set clear. 1. "Why did you stop at the Milky Way?": Because I didn't have more images. 2. This video is not about God. When I made it I wasn't thinking in God, it's more a video about humility and humanity. But each person interprets the video in a different way, and that's okay. 3. I never said we humans are "insignificant"; saying that the true greatness is not in (or only in) the Earth doesn't mean we are insignificant. I just wanted to say that we humans need to stop thinking we are te greatest thing in the universe, since we don't know the universe well enough to say that. You don't need to be the greatest thing in the universe to be significant. 4. Please excuse my terrible English, I know there are a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes in the video, but the important thing is the message of the video, and I know that the great majority of viewers understand that. 5. "The scales are wrong": This was made two years ago, with some images I found in the web. Besides, as I said before, the important thing is the message. If you want correct scales search in a book and not in YouTube. Information about "Death Star"(Saturn's satellite): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M... Images showing the size of the planets compared to the Sun, and the Sun compared with other stars. Music: Title Music from A Clockwork Orange, Wendy Carlos. (Original version: Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary, by Henry Purcell).

Being seen as a believer in anything irritates persons of science, because so many of them slag religions. My argument is to not that belief in life elsewhere is wrong. Its the popular mistreatment of religious believers is wrong. Just look at which posts here get thumbs down. Its the religious ones, without fail.

My point is that the scientific communitys Achilles heal is in the arena of belief Our scientific age demands that we provide definitions, measurements, and statistics in order to be taken seriously. Yet most of the important things in life cannot be precisely defined or measured. Can we define or measure love, beauty, friendship, or decency, for example? -Dennis Prager

"I think you and I both know what that reason is. I'm sure other readers can decide for themselves." Oh brother. I OBVIOUSLY do not think all belief is equal in it's far-fetchedness. Gawd! Hence my "give me credit" statement. "There's no such thing as fact" Is that a fact?

"I elected to not answer it, for reason." I think you and I both know what that reason is. I'm sure other readers can decide for themselves. "My issue with attempting disguise belief as fact" See, this is what you fail to understand. There's no such thing as fact; towards one end of the belief spectrum, events are so probable that we describe them as facts, but they are nonetheless beliefs.
TheJediCharles (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"Why? So far you have completely failed to answer the question" I'm not beholden to it. I haven't failed to answer your question. I elected to not answer it, for reason. "I just don't think that all beliefs are equal, as you seem to." My issue is not with how far flung a given belief is and am not interested in making that the new topic. My issue with attempting disguise belief as fact with muddling it up with abstract numbers and uninventing proof.

due to the universe's entirety, speculations & questions will always remain just that speculations & questions. Do you realize that during the time you have viewed this video the universe has become even more arduous to conceptualize? I think Prager said it the best,we don't even know how to know what we don't know!
metanym (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"Please, give me credit." Why? So far you have completely failed to answer the question: why do you consider the existence of extra-terrestrial life and the existence of god to be of equal probability? "Do you realize that [...] life on other planets is a matter of belief" Of course I do. I just don't think that all beliefs are equal, as you seem to.
TheJediCharles (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"maybe that's a bit advanced" That's not advanced. It's abstract and a departure from the discussion which hinges totaly upon an agreement upon reality. "But you do realise that things which are not certain are not necessarily equally likely, no?" Please, give me credit. Do you realize that regardless of percieved likeliness (far-flung attempts to redefine reality not withstanding) the notion of life on other planets is a matter of belief and no numbers we can jumble here changes it?
metanym (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"Then you and I have nothing futher to discuss becuase in order to understand you, you're expecting me to disbelieve in the existence of proof." Well, okay, maybe that's a bit advanced. But you do realise that things which are not certain are not necessarily equally likely, no?
