Southern Philipines have very similar traditions to Indonesia, no? There are too many island, we can't be sure exactly where silat is from.
But it's definitely not only Malaysian as Westerners often think.

the Philippino arts are street lethal. its a well rounded system with strikes, submissions, and weapons. also the weapons are things you actually run into (no nun chucks or katanas). plust you can turn anything into a stick (a magazine, a pipe, a flashlight). More than worth learning.
