true but its more direct and and refined than kung fu. even bruce lee said be direct be fast and be simple. he virtually abandoned his wing tsung because of all the indirect and traditional ways that are still in practice. the science of fighting evolves like any other science and if you dont evolve with it you become extinct or at least obsolete.

these guys tried to use mantis snake and drunken fist here. now unless youre really good you shouldnt use them cause you get your ass kicked. these guys are an insult to shaolin. they should have just used normal wushu styles long fist or ever returning fist or even tiger. this shows what happens when you get too fancy in a fight. fancy styles are mostly for conditioning and demonstration even though they do have exellent applications. real fights arnt like hollywood movies.

Karate looks plain boring cause it's not for show, unlike this kung fu and that fancy shit. But karate is really effective.
