The Pillows are that band you only fantasized you had access to, if you were a teen in the 1980s midwestern US. Hip, hypnotic, emotive exotic, rebelious and relevant, they were every thing you needed from a group. ...If they ARENT as great as the Beatles (or say The Clash)it aint thier fault. Blame "the average listener." I dont speak Japanese, so I compare sounds, and lick per lick, riff per riff... I'd throw The Pillows against the EARLY Fab Four in a battle of the band situation anyday!

True, but then you could say that had The Beatles never been around, this style of music may never have seen the light of day. No doubt The Pillows have been inadvertently influenced by the beatles somewhere long the line. In fact, you could say that most bands like this copied the beatles, not that thats necessary a bad thing

it is not... all beatles won, is the time race... if there was another band, say pillows back then, they might have been as popular as beatles... it is NOT about music... beatles popularity is all about winning the time race... being first to do what they did

Can you feel!! Can you feeeel that hybrid rainboooww!! That part makes my hair stand on end. it's just epic how much emotion songs make you feel. Personnaly i feel nostalgic at the same time Energetic when i listen to this. It's like you'r givin a fresh new start. =] i'm so happy i watched FLCL and heard this song. happy viewing all.

Part II: I don't think it's ridiculous for someone to compare the brilliance of the pillows' music with that of the Beatles.

The Pillows will never be as great as the Beatles in terms of international fame and understanding of their music (I mean let's face it, since they're Japanese they don't have that chance). But I like their music much more than the Beatles' music. I mean comon, White Incarnation, Kool Spice, Living Field, Please Mr. Lostman, Little Busters, RUNNER's HIGH, and Happy Bivouac... Thank You, My Twilight... all of these albums are just great.
