I've finally figured out the uses for some of the source games for gmod. Counter strike, Day of Defeat and Half Life 2 are usually used for mapmaking and blocky, but realistic (sort of) contraptions. Portal is made for mapmaking (but not often) and contraptions made to look and work great (after testing and tweaking a test version with HL2 and CS props). I have no idea about TF2. This is my opinion, so ignore it if you think differently.
