Pencak Silat is from Indonesia. Really old martial art but really cool to. The old silat system has been adapted to fit into indonesian commando combat system. Deadly fighting style. I dont say that it's the best style because i like every martial arts and i think that the person who practice it make the difference. This video was, i think, only a demo like kata in japenese karate (i'm not 100% sure). But for sure it's not a dancing discipline like Capoeira. :)

It's not, karate developed out of traditional battlefield jujitsu in japan; judo and aikido did too.

I don't see how it can help self-defence, but since it's so old I guess it must work! But it's also a beautiful dance, I'm sure harder than it looks.

It's from Indonesia, Malaysia and southern Philippines but I think originally from Indonesia... different Indonesian regions have their own style. I heard Karate was inspired by it, but not sure of that's true.
