you have most things right, all except one, when he gives the bottle of water to the man it is not to confuse to man its to open up a mental link of comfertability of transfering their items to each other, when Derren passes the bottle the guy gets a feeling of being comfertable so thats the main step in getting the man to hand over his possesions

I'm thinking that the flash is much more significant that realized. The timing is very convenient, right at the handshake where it would be rude to look away at who's taking the picture, which adds to the subjects confusion.

i'm feeling drowsy just listening. great explanation, actually. after he takes his stuff the first time, he immediately goes into that pointing routine, followed by the handshake. it's like reminding him of that bond or repoire they established, with a redirect. then after the second time he points him off and away the man goes. we are quite the sheep. great video. i was starting to think it was all magic, but when you break it down like that moment by moment i can almost grasp it, ha ha.
