yea in the directors commentary i think he mentioned it or mayb someone else he explained why. i dont remember exactly but he stated somethin to the effect that it is such a powerful scene he feels subtitles would ruin the integretiy of it. he doesnt like subtitles in general.

Aaah..that sounds like an reasonable purpose! I like it better without the subtitles!

personally I think the reason it was omitted was so that we wouldn't pay attention to the exchange of dialogue, and focus our attention on the environment, and the tension building before mike's first hit. I like it better without - but I'm just used to that i guess.

Thanks for the missing translation between Michael and the Turk. I don't know why Francis Ford Coppola didn't subtitle some of the dialogue that was essential to the film.

Make "makes his bones" with these two crucial important killings. Had he not personally killed them, the Soloozzo guy would have killed Vito Corleone somewhow anyway. He was the only one who could get this close to him and ensure the kill.
